Associate Director, Research Integrity – Journals

A research publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is seeking an Associate Director of Research Integrity. This pivotal role involves developing and implementing research integrity policies and providing training and guidance to staff and authors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ethical research practices and a commitment to maintaining high standards in scholarly communications. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and promote a culture of integrity and transparency within the organisation.
Provide strategic oversight and leadership in research integrity, influencing global standards and practices across the organisation
Develop, maintain and enforce policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with ethical standards in publishing and industry best practice, and to respond proactively to emerging threats
Working with key stakeholders, translate the Editorial department’s strategic objectives on quality and integrity into actionable plans that elevate ethical policies and procedures across the global organisation
Provide high level training and resources to internal teams and external stakeholders on best practices in research integrity and ethical publishing
Lead collaborations with technology colleagues on innovative approaches to detecting ethical issues, with a focus on robust scalable solutions
Lead the global Research Integrity team in handling cases arising on journals: ensure the team is delivering a high level of support and expertise to staff, journal editors and other stakeholders
Mentor and develop the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ethical awareness, and professional growth
Manage risk to the organisation’s reputation and act as the point of escalation for the most complex and sensitive cases
Contribute to the development of global policies and processes that support the client’s aims to publish content that is inclusive and free from bias
Represent the organisation in the broader scholarly communications community, upholding the organisation’s reputation for quality and integrity
Working with the Senior Research Integrity Manager, prepare reports and communicate with senior management about issues, trends, and progress in research integrity efforts
Associate Director: Skills/experience
An expert on research integrity and publication ethics with an extensive experience in an editorial role and a strong background in research
Highly adept in navigating complex ethical issues and managing sensitive situations with confidence, discretion and good judgement
Able to manage multiple expectations from diverse stakeholders
An experienced manager with proven ability to mentor and develop a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ethical awareness, and professional growth
A strategic thought-leader, skilled in translating strategic objectives into actionable plans
A proficient and collaborative communicator, with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
