Our Client, an innovative and ambitious publisher of academic courseware, is looking for a Business Development Manager, covering Northern England, East Midlands, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, to promote online courses (HE) and the recruitment of universities to increase revenue within the assigned territories.

This exciting and challenging opportunity would suit an enthusiastic, and proactive business development professional looking to make a mark in online publishing for Higher Education. Reporting to the Sales Director, the main responsibilities include:

  • Pro-actively finding and developing new business opportunities
  • Managing existing relationships with key decision-makers at universities
  • Regular territory-wide client visits and presentations
  • Meeting and exceeding monthly targets
  • Actively managing customer pipeline and developing new business opportunities
  • Attending relevant conferences to promote courses to universities
  • Providing an outstanding level of customer support
  • Pro-actively keeping up-to-date with eLearning developments
  • Keeping accurate and current records via the Salesforce CRM system.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in business development or a similar role, and in communicating at a senior level with key contacts within Higher Education or related markets. Experience managing and supporting major customer accounts and in exceeding challenging business goals and targets are required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are needed, as is a full, clean UK driving licence. An understanding of HE is essential and a working knowledge of the publishing industry and Virtual Learning Environments is desirable. This role involves regular travel across territories, and occasional travel to Europe and the London office.
