Our client, a global academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years, is looking for a Commissioning Editor to oversee the development of a new Video collection: Diversity and Social Justice. The collection will be sold into the global academic library market and non academic markets on one of their leading digital platforms.

The Commissioning Editor will be the product lead for this video collection, taking it from design to launch, representing the collection with both internal and external stakeholders. This is an exciting position within the global Video Editorial team, working in a dynamic part of the business. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the product lead, commissioning all content and developing it for commercial launch
- Formulating and developing the content plan, including finalising taxonomy, identifying and commissioning Editorial Advisory Board members and identifying content types and sources
- Identifying, commissioning and managing all original production video talent for the collection
- Working closely with the manager, Video Licencing to identify licencing partners and content
- Working with internal and external stakeholders ensuring content is developed in accordance with strategy. Including freelances, production houses and internal video team members
- Working with other internal Editors to maximise opportunities for leveraging content from existing network of authors, editors and societies
- Holding good knowledge of the pedagogical needs for this video collection
- Attending university campuses and conferences as required
- Following industry news, blogs and other reports on Diversity and Social Justice trends in HE
Successful candidates will have a strong understanding and relatable view of academic and cultural trends in the broad field of diversity, equity, and social justice. Commissioning experience in digital or text-based product development, and experience of building a video collection from design to launch are desirable. You will need strong organisational and research skills, alongside budgeting and cost management experience. This is a new role and an exciting opportunity to take a lead in the creation of another flagship video product for this global publisher.
