A world leading not-for-profit STM society is recruiting a Licensing & Access Manager to lead the Access Management team in delivery of content licensing and access control services which are key to the sales workflow for publishing products.

Reporting to the Head of Sales Operations and working closely with the Global Sales and Publishing teams the Licensing & Access Manager will build a strong understanding of the long-term licensing and access control requirements for publishing products and ensure appropriate systems, workflows and policies are in place to support the organization’s future. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the Contracts & Copyright team in delivery of essential content licensing services
- Departmental business owner for third-party systems and services required for delivery of content licensing service
- Manage third party licensing of content including negotiating rights and royalty terms
- Manage Technical Support team in delivery of essential access control services
- Deliver process and workflow improvements and management
- Establish roadmap for continued improvement of access control systems and services
- Work with senior stakeholders to define and evolve licensing and access control policies
- Build and maintain close relationships with colleagues across the business to ensure licensing policies are consistent with organizational objectives are sensitive to the markets served, includes Global Sales, Publishing and Legal Services teams.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of copyright and related intellectual property law and issues in a publishing environment. Experience negotiating complex licences, preferably in the publishing sector, with a good understanding of licensing models and methods is required along with demonstrable knowledge of access control technologies in the publishing sector. Understanding of current developments in the scholarly communications sector, specifically content licensing and access control also required as is people management experience.
