Our client, an esteemed research publisher seeks a dynamic and experienced Publishing Director to lead their academic journals portfolio. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on responsibilities as a publisher for selected journal titles. As a key member of the management team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial strategy, managing a high-performing team, and driving the development and success of their publications.

Publishing Director: Key responsibilities
- Contribute to defining the company’s editorial strategy, with innovative proposals to expand and enhance the journal portfolio
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to align editorial, communication, and sales strategies
- Drive economic efficiency through budget management, growth planning, and cost optimization
- Lead the sustainable transition of the journal portfolio to open access, aligning with industry trends and organizational goals
- Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment to achieve portfolio growth and success
- Promote individual and collective development
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with national and international organizations to develop the portfolio of journals and identify opportunities for growth.
Publishing Director: Skills/experience
- University degree in science, ideally PhD level
- Proven leadership and team management experience in academic publishing or a related field
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of managing both the big picture and critical details
- Good understanding of open access and open science policies and models
- Commitment to publishing integrity, ensuring ethical standards, transparency, and quality across all publications
- Fluency in English and French.
