Our client, a leading academic and professional publisher with significant global presence is looking to recruit a Senior Commissioning Editor to join their successful Editorial team on a 10 month FTC. Responsible for delivering high-quality products on time and to budget by working closely with key stakeholders, this is a great opportunity for an experienced individual looking for a new role with potential opportunities to line manage and motivate and develop team members.

Key responsibilities
- Develop products through direct commissioning on budget and on time
- Set, track, and manage commissioning targets and costs for you and/or your editorial team (if relevant) to ensure timely delivery of high-quality online content
- Provide effective line management of other editorial team members as appropriate including ongoing performance reviews and career developmental planning
- Work effectively with authors, external content partners, vendors, and any internal team members as appropriate to ensure content is submitted to deadlines and developed to a high academic standard
- Develop strong faculty networks and market knowledge through campus calling, conference attendance to better understand the needs of our clients’ markets
- Collaborate with the global Executive Marketing Manager to deliver sales training to the global Sales teams as appropriate, and support sales managers by providing prompt, high quality answers to customer content queries
- Represent our client externally and professionally at national and international conferences as appropriate.

Suitable candidates will have several years of commissioning experience within an academic/higher education publishing environment. Previous experience of line managing Editors or relevant management experience would be an advantage. We are looking for individuals with strong organisational and prioritisation skills and the confidence to communicate effectively with many different stakeholders, internally and externally. Previous experience of planning and carrying out effective market research and examples of strong commercial acumen would be advantageous.
